When asked if he felt like Kevin Costner in 'Field Of Dreams' or George Clooney in 'The Perfect Storm', Senator McCain went with the 1940 film, 'Knute Rockne: All American'? What a testament to how out of touch this man is! I wonder how many young'uns even know what the reference to "the Gipper" is (or who said the line :-)?

Later in the show, he was unable to name all five former Secretaries of State that he feels trump Collin Powell's endorsement of Senator Obama. He couldn't recall George Schultz.  And perhaps tellingly, all of the five go back quite a ways (Kissinger, Haig, Baker, Eagleburger were the other four...1973 the oldest, 1993 the most recent... all Republicans... not exactly a glowing recommendation).

Considering how crucial this counter-argument of his would seem to be, that lapse of memory combined with the film reference convinces be beyond all doubt that John McCain is mentally unfit for the highest office in the land.  That none of the five are particularly current is all the more damning.

I also find his "head in the sand" attitude towards the polls alarming. This kind of "I'm right, the data is wrong" attitude could be disastrous for a nation in time of crisis.
